Utility carts come in a variety of shapes, sizes and uses. From a job site utility cart or vehicle with a flatbed for hauling equipment or people to a golf cart for hauling clubs, gear and people or even a powered shopping cart to help disabled persons get around a store more easily. These are an examples of a utility carts. Utility carts come with 3 or 4 wheels and are generally only useful on flat, smooth surfaces. Utility carts are generally self propelled and can be powered by a fuel like gas or diesel, but most like are electric or battery operated.
All terrain vehicles (ATVs) also come in a variety of shapes and sizes but are generally hardier than a utility cart. Where a utility cart is restricted to smooth surfaces the ATV can go pretty much anywhere. ATVs also come in 3 and 4 wheel varieties however they are larger and built for traction. ATVs unlike utility carts generally come with all wheel drive to provide traction even if some of the wheels slip.
The right choice of utility cart or ATV depend upon the conditions you will need to use them in. For indoor and smooth surfaces a 3 wheel utility cart might be fine, where as on a construction site with little debris a 4 wheel golf cat style utility cart would be suitable. In rugged condition a heavier ATV might be the call. In any case there are as many manufacturers of utility carts and ATVs as there are uses. Kawasaki, Honda, John Deere, EZ-GO, Club Car Amigo and Martcart are just a few.
