Pettibone Mercury was purchased in 1996 by A & G Manufacturing Co., Inc. and is known now simply as the A & G Mercury Tow Tractor line. A & G Manufacturing Co. was founded by Arvin Shifley & Glen Shifley Sr. in 1971. They a family owned company today. They began as a Job Shop facility with machining, welding, fabricating, and finish painting. In 1975 they built their first plant which has had 5 expansions and is now called Plant 2. In 1990 they bought what is now called Plant 3 with the Cleland Manufacturing product of Stake bed and Flat bed Truck Bodies. In 1993 they purchased what is now called Plant 1. They purchased the Pettibone Mercury Tow Tractor line after fabricating and assembling the units for them for several years.
A & G Manufacturing Co. specializes in drilling, boring, cutting, honing, grinding, welding, mill & lathe work & sheet, plate, ornamental & structural steel & aluminum fabricating services. A & G Manufacturing has many large and diverse clients including, Ford, Chrysler, Nissan, U.S. Coast Guard, Ashtech, Jarvis Webb, and Lockheed Martin.
