Crown Equipment Corporation is the sixth largest manufacturer of powered industrial forklift trucks in the world. They are a privately held, family owned company in the United States. Crown got its start manufacturing first temperature controls for coal-burning furnaces and then television antenna rotators. After if diversified in several directions it finally found its niche in the the material handling industry. Its heavy duty lift trucks are used in various types of jobs, like transporting goods aisles of warehouses, distribution centers and manufacturing facilities. They can move four-ton loads and can stack pallets nearly 45 feet high.
Carl and Allen Dicke and Carl’s son Jim Dicke founded Crown Controls in 1945. In 1952, when Carl died and Jim Dicke who was 31 years old became president. Jim Dicke II was president from 1980 to 2002 and is the current CEO. Jim Dicke III is Crown’s current president. Their U.S. corporate headquarters is located in New Bremen, Ohio.
Some of their products include hand pallet trucks, walkie pallet trucks, walkie stackers, rider pallet trucks tow tractors, stockpickers, wave, sit down counterbalanced trucks, narrow aisle reach trucks, and very narrow aisle turret trucks.
