Contact us about this item!ASV was founded in 1983 by Gary Lemke and Edgar Hetteen in Marcell, Minnesota. Lemke was one of the top snowmobile dealers in the United States and Hetteen had founded Polaris Industries and Arctic Enterprises, the leading snowmobile manufacturers in the country. They first manufactured the Track Truck which was a year round all terrain transport used by utility companies and ski resorts. In 1987 they developed a compact construction machine with a track system that gave it greater power and traction for digging. This started their Posi-Track and rubber-tracked all purpose crawler.
In 1998 Caterpillar purchased 9 percent of ASV and they were then able to sell Posi-Tracks through Caterpillar's North American dealer network. In 2007 Terex Corporation, which is a diversified global manufacturer from Westport Connecticut, purchased ASV and today they are a wholly-owned subsidiary of Terex and part of their construction segment.
Today their line includes the PT-Series and the Scout ST-50. They also manufacturer remote controlled Posi-Tracks for military applications.
